On June 25 the webinar on “Solar heating and photovoltaic systems and energy efficiency: technologies for green recovery and growth” was held for CoM signatories in Armenia in the framework of the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW2020). 

The event was organized by the CoM East project in cooperation with the Armenia Renewable Resources and Energy Efficiency Fund (Covenant Supporter) and UNDP Armenia for the representatives of municipalities and municipal structures. The webinar was attended by 25 participants.

The presentations were actively discussed by the participants, such as: solar water heaters and PV systems, energy efficiency improvement in multi apartment buildings, municipal energy management and others.

The webinar was followed by a thematical online quiz. 

The names of the winners are:

  • First place: Karine Simonyan, Alaverdi
  • Second place: Arman Avetisyan, Spitak
  • Third place: Gagik Mushkambaryan, Vayk.

Due to COVID-19 pandemics the awarding ceremonies were organized in Spitak (August 7), Alaverdi (August 7) and Vayk (August 12). The winners were awarded with bicycles from the CoM East project and Union of Communities of Armenia, Project partner in Armenia. The awarding ceremonies were attended by the heads of communities, representatives of the municipalities. The awarding ceremonies had become a real holiday for community residents. For example in Spitak, Gagik Sahakyan, Mayor of Spitak, the President of Covenant of Mayors Club in Armenia took part in the awarding ceremony.

The publications about the awarding ceremonies: live streams, photoalbums, videos gained great involvement in social media: 9 919 reaches in Facebook pages of Covenant of Mayors East and Union of Communities of Armenia.
