Ukraine: Interregional workshop for municipalities "Energy efficiency in communities: new challenges, new opportunities", 04/16/2019, Kharkiv

At the initiative of the Kharkiv Regional Council as a territorial coordinator of the Covenant of Mayors, as well as with the support of the Association of Local Self-Government Bodies of the Kharkiv region and the EU Project “Covenant of Mayors - East” in Ukraine, on April 16, 2019, a practical seminar on energy efficiency in Ukraine was held for communities: "Energy efficiency in communities: new challenges, new opportunities." 

The event was held on the basis of the Kharkiv National Academy of Municipal Economy named after A.N. Beketov, where Sergey Chernov, Chairman of the Kharkiv Regional Council, President of the Association of Local Self-Government Bodies of the Kharkov Region, Tatyana Golovko, Deputy Chairman of the Sumy Regional Council, and the national expert of EU project "Covenant of Mayors - East' in Ukraine Oksana Kysil, First Vice President - Executive Director of the Association of Local Self-Government Bodies in Kharkiv region Nikolay Titov, rector of Kharkiv National Academy of Municipal Economy Vladimir Babayev, representatives of village and city councils of Kharkiv and Sumy regions, who are signatories of the Covenant of Mayors, participated.

The key topics of the seminar were:

• The introduction of regional energy efficiency policies.The introduction of regional energy efficiency policies.
• Programs and projects in the field of energy efficiency and energy saving. As communities do not lose opportunities.
• Preparing energy managers is a start to energy efficiency in society. Presentation of the training course.
• Successful practices in the implementation of energy efficiency measures on the example of the Merefyansk OTG and Pervomaisky.
• Energy efficient projects and experience in the use of alternative energy sources by the Kharkov National Academy of Municipal Economy named after A.N. Beketov.

National expert of EU project "Covenant of Mayors - East' in Ukraine Oksana Kysil told the participants about the institutional capacity of local communities to implement energy and climate policies, as well as about the energy management and project management system.
