More than 300 citizens from Polack in Belarus participated in the Energy Days celebration, organised for the sixth year in a row. In total, 13 events were held this year in the framework of Energy Days, both online and offline. Among them were a visit  to the Polack Hydropower Power Plant work for young Polack citizens, a “green” cruise for teams of schoolchildren, and public quizzes.

The Energy Days events were organised as a part of European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) and in the run-up to the Light Festival, which will take place from 31 August to 2 September. Light installations will appear on Polack streets and night city tours, workshops, flash mobs and contests will be held during the event.

The Energy Days events took place as a part of PubLiCity project. The project is being financed by the EU within the framework of the EU4Energy initiative, under the Covenant of Mayors Demonstration Projects (CoM-DeP), which is being implemented by the Polack District Executive Committee and Interakcia Foundation.

***

CoM-DeP are part of the EU4Energy initiative. EU4Energy covers all EU support to improve energy supply, security and connectivity, as well as to promote energy efficiency and the use of renewables in the Eastern Partner countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine). It does this by financing projects and programmes that help to reform energy markets and to reduce national energy dependence and consumption. Over the long term, this makes energy supply more reliable, transparent and affordable, thus reducing energy poverty and energy bills for both citizens and the private sector.
