The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is to provide a €15 million loan to ProCredit Bank to support micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Moldova. The new financing, supported by European Union funds as part of the EU4Business Initiative, will help companies to become more competitive inside the country and worldwide, despite the COVID-19 crisis.

The financial package will allow businesses to invest in the modernisation of their equipment and production processes to match the EU standards in terms of product quality, health and safety measures and environmental preservation. Ensuring high product standards will allow companies from Moldova to become more export-oriented.

The EBRD is one of the largest institutional investors in Moldova. To date, it has invested around €1.42 billion in more than 140 projects in the country to support private businesses and key infrastructure and to build a greener and more sustainable economy.
