Last week, over 400 representatives of local and national authorities, associations of local authorities and other stakeholders from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine met in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv for high-level conference entitled ‘Municipalities for Sustainable Growth’.

The event discussed the role of local authorities in identifying and addressing the complexities of sustainable development, economic resilience and climate action.

The event was organised on 22-23 November by two major EU initiatives for the Eastern Partner countries: the Covenant of Mayors and Mayors for Economic Growth. Under both initiatives, the EU supports 48 pilot projects with €32 million for the implementation of the signatories' commitments in the Eastern Neighbourhood region.
