A new smart and energy-efficient public lighting system has been installed in Ocnita, Republic of Moldova, thanks to the EU-funded “Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Projects” initiative.
More than 380 LED lamps have been installed in 27 streets in Ocnita, including the areas around the town’s bus station, school, kindergarten and hospital.
The town will be able to save 30% on energy per year, or almost €3,000. Ocnita will also reduce its CO2 emissions by 154 tonnes, equal to roughly 7,000 trees.
