On 12 February 2019, Energy Community Secretariat experts presented the findings of the EU4Energy technical assistance aimed at developing new technical standards of emissions for plants incinerating or co-incinerating waste.

As set out by the EU Directive 2010/75, the draft secondary legislation will regulate emissions of plants disposing of waste or using waste as a fuel by setting emission limit values and continuous monitoring measures.

The aim of transposing the environmental acquis communautaire into Ukrainian legislation is to reduce the environmental impact of energy utilisation and to safeguard the health and well-being of citizens. It comes under Ukraine’s obligations as an Energy Community member.
