On 19 November, the Energy Community Secretariat initiated a two-day capacity building workshop in Chisinau under the framework of the EU4Energy project, aimed at increasing the local authorities’ and market participants’ know-how to follow up on the implementation of the electricity market reform in Moldova. The workshop was attended by representatives of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE), Moldelectrica and other market participants (CET-Nord JSC, Gas Natural Fenosa Furnizare Energie LCC, RED –Nord JSC, RED Union Fenosa JSC, Energocom, JSC MGRES, Furnizare Energie LCC).

The capacity building will include individual assistance, training and coaching of Moldovan officials until the end of March 2020, with a view to provide advice on all aspects of daily electricity market operations and increase understanding of specific laws and applicable procedures in the electricity market that operate under the EU acquis.

The overall objective is to contribute to the creation of a liberalised electricity market in Moldova in accordance with its obligations under the Energy Community Treaty.
