The city of Lutsk in Ukraine has received new energy-efficient, low-floor trolleybuses.
The new trolleybuses will run on route 15. Each trolleybus is equipped with comfortable seats, air-conditioning, USB ports for charging, and Wi-Fi. The new vehicles are also accessible for older people, people with disabilities and passengers with prams.
“For Lutsk, this is not only a matter of new modern trolleybuses, additional spare parts and diagnostic equipment. It is also a chance to improve accessibility of public transport while respecting the environment”, said Jean-Erik de Zagon, Head of the European Investment Bank (EIB) representation in Ukraine.
This was made possible thanks to a €4.36 million loan from the EIB, as part of the project ‘Ukraine urban public transport’. In addition, the EU has provided grant funding of €3.5 million for technical assistance to help the Ministry of Infrastructure and participating cities to implement European standards of sustainable urban mobility. In particular, Lutsk will receive €150,000 as an investment grant from the EU to improve its transport infrastructure.
