Thanks to loans provided through the ‘IQ energy’ programme, homeowners in Ukraine have been able to make their houses more energy efficient and reduce their energy consumption by half.

‘IQ energy’ was developed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and it was supported by the Environment Partnership fund, of which the EU is the largest contributor.

During the programme’s implementation from April 2016 to September 2020, more than 43,000 Ukrainian families participated in the programme and renovated their homes with high-quality, energy-efficient materials. The beneficiaries used grants to thermally insulate their facades, modernise their heating systems, and install heat meters and individual boiler stations.

Overall, the programme helps these homes save over 72,000 MWh per year and reduces their CO2 emissions by nearly 28,000 tonnes per year.
