Georgia’s updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC)

Georgia’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), updated with the support of the EU-funded EU4Climate project, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The NDC was submitted to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on 5 May.

In the updated NDCs, Georgia commits to unconditionally reducing its total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to 35 per cent below its 1990 baseline level (an approximately 16 per cent per capita reduction) by 2030. The country also sets out feasible targets for limiting emissions in seven sectors (transport, buildings, energy generation and transmission, agriculture, industry, waste and forestry) and promises to shift to low-carbon development approaches in the construction, waste management and agriculture sectors.
