Basic principles and methods of organic agriculture, conservation, biodynamic agriculture, renewable energy sources and related technologies were the focus of training seminars, organised with EU support, which took place in Khulo municipality in early December.

Up to 20 representatives of Khulo Local Action Group, City Hall and local farmers took part in the information sessions. The participants were introduced to methods for improving soil fertility, plant protection tools, solar, biogas and biomass energy and relevant innovations.

The workshops were interactive and participants were able to ask questions based on individual examples and discuss topics of their own interest.

The seminars were conducted by the “Elkana” association and experts from the Energy Efficiency Centre in the framework of the EU-funded “Promotion of Rural Development and Diversification in Khulo Municipality” project, under the European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (ENPARD).

The EU supports rural development in Georgia through its ENPARD programme. Aiming to reduce rural poverty, ENPARD has been implemented since 2013, with a total budget of €179.5 million.
