On 28 January, Energy Community Secretariat experts presented the results of a report, developed under the EU4Energy Governance project, aimed at improving the regulatory environment in the Ukrainian gas market and harmonisation with the EU acquis.

The report features best practices in the monitoring of performance of distribution system operators and retail suppliers by EU and Energy Community regulatory authorities. The experience of national regulatory authorities in Austria, France, Hungary, Italy, Latvia and Serbia will help to tailor a model best fit for Ukraine.

The next step will be the creation of a list of recommendations for the Ukrainian regulatory authority regarding the competent authority for setting and approving gas quality monitoring standards and the key requirements for ensuring the quality of service and supply.
