From 19 to 21 June, the city of Slavutych in Ukraine will host a visit of representatives of five signatory cities of the “Covenant of Mayors East” initiative, financed by the EU. Representatives of Bucha, Koziatin, Novogrodivka, Olevsk and Pokrovsk will gain experience in developing and implementing local energy policies. The study visit has been organised with EU support as part of the City2City initiative.

Slavutych has made significant achievements on its path to sustainable energy, improving energy efficiency and climate change, and is open to sharing its experiences and best practices with other municipalities.

City2City study tours, in the format of twinning visits lasting several days, provide an opportunity to build contacts and adopt the experience of successful cities for municipalities that have recently joined the Covenant of Mayors and are in the initial stage of developing and implementing their Sustainable Energy Action Plan and climate change mitigation. The aim is to create exchanges that work both ways, as host cities also obtain new insights and inspiration for their climate and energy work.

A similar City2City study visit for larger Ukrainian cities will take place in Zhytomyr on 25–27 June. The City2City study visits are being organised by the EU-funded Covenant of Mayors East initiative.
