A series of photographs has been published showing the new energy-efficient street lighting in Polack, Belarus, installed as part of the EU’s “Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Projects” initiative.
The city started to install the new, modern street lighting in April this year, and has already managed to replace 112 lights on two streets and to spotlight five monuments. Replacements are also planned in a further 18 streets.
Polack was the first Belarusian city to join the EU’s Covenant of Mayors on Climate and Energy in 2011. The city set an ambitious goal to reduce its CO2 emissions by 20% by 2020.
