On 28 November, the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE), under the aegis of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine and with the participation of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), organised the 10th anniversary of the International Renewable Energy Investment Forum in Kyiv, Ukraine.
During the forum, which is the country’s largest event in the energy sector, more than 700 participants analysed and discussed the achievements and strategy of "clean" energy development in Ukraine in the context of global trends. Together with other high representatives, the forum was attended by Johannes Baur (Head of Economic Cooperation Section, EU Delegation to Ukraine) and EU Twinning experts, who discussed ways of communicating and supporting renewable energy projects at local level and overcoming barriers for empowering Ukrainian communities to become a part of the global “green energy” mainstream.
The key topics of discussion were: the global challenges and prospects for renewable energy sources in Ukraine; the main directions of development of renewable energy sources; successful examples of project implementation; an introduction to the renewable energy auction system; and ways to attract investment in green projects.
