On 13 December, the 17th Energy Community Ministerial Council was held in Chișinău, Moldova. Here, the parties discussed Energy Community Treaty reforms and the EU 2030 energy and climate framework, and the European Commission presented ongoing work on the ‘2019 General Policy Guidelines on 2030 Targets and Climate Neutrality for the Energy Community and its Contracting Parties’.

Along with other high-ranking officials, Anne-Charlotte Bournoville, Head of the International Relations and Enlargement Unit of the Directorate General for Energy of the European Commission, and Janez Kopač, the Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, were in attendance.

During the meeting, Ms. Bournoville underlined that ‘the Energy Community is an essential part of the external energy cooperation toolkit of the European Union. [It] needs to follow the EU in its climate neutrality goals and join the path towards decarbonisation by 2050.’
