With support from the EU-funded ‘Covenant of Mayors - Demonstration Projects’, the Ukrainian city of Ukrainka now has a new system of automated monitoring for energy resources in major public buildings. The special equipment has been installed in two schools, the ‘Khorovod’ and ‘Solnyshko’ kindergartens, the wrestling hall, the premises of the Ukrainian City Council, the sports complex and the Palace of Culture ‘Energetik’.

From now on, technical staff at the public buildings are no longer required to be physically present at their desks and perform necessary manual work, as with the help of sensors and meters, the automated monitoring system will allow them to automatically transfer all indicators of energy use to the main control centre located in the Ukrainian City Council.

The new system will ensure the prompt identification of cost overruns and accidents, increase the efficiency of equipment settings and minimise energy costs. As a result, the modernised system will allow the city to save up to 20% of costs related to energy resources.
