On 27 February, 10 cities in the Luhansk region, Ukraine, committed to developing large-scale energy efficiency projects, as part of their partnership with the Energy Efficiency Fund (EEF). By signing a memorandum of cooperation, the signatories promised to implement energy conservation tools and thermal modernisation activities in their residential buildings.

The projects are expected to reduce energy consumption and utility costs for homeowner associations across the Luhansk region. The joint activities will also improve the buildings’ appearance, raise residents’ living conditions and increase the cost of their properties.

The EU supports thermal modernisation initiatives in Ukraine via the EEF. The fund aims to bring Ukraine’s energy efficiency up to European standards by reducing the level of energy consumption and СО2 emissions in the residential sector.
