Template for monitoring the implementation of the SEAP
Written by Raphael ChateletTemplate of the monitoring report on SEAP implementation, which must be completed by signatories of the Covenant of Mayors.
The tool contains a database on national energy consumption indicators for different sectors and energy carriers for each of the 11 countries that are members of the "Covenant of Mayors - East" (CoM East) group: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
It should be noted that the tool is designed to provide reference data to help you in the absence of local data. This can be especially useful for small communities where there is no system for collecting local data. To facilitate the use of the reference data tool, a guide to its use was developed, explaining the main input data, as well as the output data calculated by the tool.
Covenant of Mayors: an approach to the definition of emission projections based on the "conventional development" scenario for the countries of the Eastern Partnership and Central Asia
Written by Raphael ChateletThe methodology of the Covenant of Mayors - East was expanded due to the possibility of emission projections based on the "normal development" scenario, from which national coefficients for previous years were obtained. Thus, signatories are able to calculate their emissions inventory from the total amount of total emissions in the base year and their forecasts by 2020.

Global Covenant of Mayors Open House
The Moldova Energy and Biomass Project, funded by EU, co-funded and implemented by UNDP, aims to contribute to a more secure, competitive and sustainable energy production in the Republic of Moldova. It lays the basis for the establishment of functional markets for biomass technologies while increasing the use of renewable energy sources, in particular for heating public buildings and households in rural areas. Moldova, Copceac and Soroca: Improving of territorial planning and land use practices
Written by Анна ДеркачThe long-term goal of the Project was in reforming the manner in which agricultural, forestry and other production activities are planned and regulated across different land units and tenure categories at the landscape level.
The Project focus was biodiversity conservation, however it addressed anticipated negative impacts of Climate Change (CC) by increasing resilience of the aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems in the targeted districts. By removing the precursors of degradation and careful monitoring of the self-restoration 14 capacities of steppe, forest, meadows and swamp the project contributes to higher resilience of the ecosystems and the species they host, to CC impacts. The project also provisioned afforestation, influencing future humidity conditions through changes in both, temperature and precipitation.
Moldova, Cantemir and Ocnita: Modernization of street lighting
Written by Анна ДеркачThis is a success story of two small municipalities on how they can contribute at the local level to the global targets within the Covenant of Mayors Initiative. The actions took place in Cantemir and Ocnita, Republic of Moldova. Both cities have committed to reduce their energy consumption and CO2 emissions by 20% till 2020 and developed the Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAPs). Among dozens of the projects included into the SEAPS, municipalities have focused and implemented ones on modernization of the street lighting systems using innovative technologies and best European practices.
