Ukraine: working meeting within the framework of the Municipal platform and EEA Award Ceremony, 19/03/2019, Zhytomyr

On March 19, 2019, a working meeting of the EU Project "Covenant of Mayors - East" project was held in Zhytomyr within the framework of the Municipal Platform for city-signatories of the Covenant of Mayors from the central and western regions of Ukraine and EEA Award Ceremony. The moderator of the meeting, Oksana Kysil, National expert of the EU Project "Covenant of Mayors - East" in Ukraine, spoke about the Platform's tasks and functions, and invited Mayor of Zhytomyr Sergei Sukhomlyn to attest to the participation of the city in MDCP.

Zhytomyr became the second city of Ukraine that received EEA Award Ceremony! Mayor Sergey Sukhomlin received it from the hands of Pascal Steinüber, representative of the International Association of EEA. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Public Utilities Eduard Kruglyak, Director of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Ukraine Holger Tausch, Head of the National EE Office, Executive Director of the Energy Efficient Cities Association of Ukraine Svyatoslav Pavlyuk and ShBS project manager in Ukraine, Anna Wilde. Apart from Zhytomyr, Vinnitsa and three more cities - Lviv, Sumy and Cherkasy - became pilot projects for the introduction of EEA. European Commission recognized the EEA as one of the most effective tools for the implementation of the SEAP.
