The Ukrainian city of Kharkiv will receive a €10 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to purchase 49 new energy-efficient trolleybuses as part of the project ‘Ukraine urban public transport’. The new batch will include 12 two-section and 37 single-section trolleys that can travel up to 20 km without power supply.

The low-floor vehicles will provide easy access for elderly and disabled passengers and people with pushchairs. The new eco-friendly trolleys are part of Kharkiv’s Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan to reduce CO2 emissions in the city by 30% by 2030.

The EIB is a long-term partner of Ukraine in financing public transport infrastructure projects. Since 2007, the EIB has signed financial contracts with Ukraine worth more than €2 billion.
