Thanks to the Energy Efficiency Fund, apartment buildings in Kharkiv Oblast will undergo energy modernisation. The fund is supported by the homeowners’ association, ‘Dobrobut Chuhuieva’, from the small town of Chuhuiv, Ukraine. The energy modernisation project was implemented within the ‘First Movers’ programme and the total cost was UAH 486,400 (EUR 14,600). Supported by the EU and other international partners, the homeowners’ association received 60% compensation for the cost of the project. Now, all co-owners can control the temperature of their home via their smartphone and pay about 30% less for heating bills.

The ‘First Movers’ programme is a pilot project of the Energy Efficiency Fund and was launched in 2019 to test the fund's procedures. As part of its implementation, 15 apartment buildings from all over Ukraine were selected (as of today, only 10 buildings continue to be part of the project). The project aims to improve different working procedures: from energy audits to the verification of energy efficiency measures. All stages of the project’s implementation comply with the requirements of the Energy Efficiency Fund.
