European Union, 2020

The Museum of History and Ethnography in the city of Călărași, the Republic of Moldova, will receive new lighting thanks to the EU. The 24 new LED projectors and five light poles will highlight the architecture of the museum building at night as well as its surroundings, and boost the city’s attractiveness as a tourist destination.

The works are part of the project ‘Efficient public lighting in Călărași-Firefly in the heart of forests‘. The project is implemented through the EU programme ‘Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Projects’, part of the ‘EU4Energy’ initiative.

The new energy-efficient lights will save up to €6,500 per year, and will decrease the city’s CO2 emissions as well as maintenance and operating costs.
