This summer, an EU project started energy modernisation works in three public schools in the town of Sumy, Ukraine.

School No. 7, the largest in Sumy, will receive new insulation and windows, as well as new lightning protection and rainwater drainage systems. Meanwhile, School No. 9 is also in the process of becoming more energy efficient. The third school, School No. 20, has also been equipped with a new lightning protection system and will now undergo an evaluation to determine what energy efficiency improvements  it needs.

The works are implemented within the project ‘Increasing the energy efficiency of educational institutions’. The project is supported by the EU as part of the ‘Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration projects’ (CoM-DeP) programme.
