The special issue is dedicated to the European Sustainable Energy Week 2020, which was very unusual this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Totally, 85 Energy Days were organised by the CoM Signatories in the EaP countries, mostly in a digital format. The Newsletter highlights the main figures related to the participation of Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine in the #EUSEW2020, including number and types of activities, social media engagement, regional quiz and special online events held by the CoM East project. You will find out who won second EU Sustainable Energy Award for the Eastern Partnership and learn about the flash mob “Small talk with the Mayor”, in which the leaders of the Covenant community share their experience on how they contribute to sustainable development and green energy transition in the new realia.
In 2019, Ukraine, which is a CoM leader in the Eastern Partnership region, celebrated 10 years of the Covenant in the country. The ninth issue is dedicated to the experience and achievements of Ukrainian municipalities within the initiative that changed the energy profile of Europe and the attitude of its citizens towards energy and climate. You will learn of the main country facts and figures, a new networking tool for mayors of the Ukrainian CoM Signatories – Municipal Platform for Energy & Climate Transition as well as 17 Demonstration Projects implemented in Ukraine under the CoM-DeP Programme. The newsletter also informs about the Joint Steering Committee (SC) meeting of the two CoM projects in Tbilisi, as well as the most important capacity building, information and promotion activities for CoM Signatories in EaP countries.
Moldovan Signatories of the Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy are in the focus of this issue. How does it work in the country? You will learn about the progress of Moldova on the way to fulfilling the commitments undertaken under the CoM initiative. The newsletter presents a new exchange programme City2City recently launched by the CoM East project team to establish a platform for sharing experience between municipalities. Also, it informs about the first meetings of the Municipal Development Coordination Platform, so called or Covenant of Mayors Club, held in most of the EaP countries. Finally, the issue briefly describes the most important capacity building, information and communication activities carried out by the CoM East project experts in the Eastern Partnership countries.
Special Edition of Newsletter #7 devoted to EUSEW 2019

The special issue is fully devoted to the wide celebration of the EUSEW 2019 and Energy Days organised by the CoM Signatories in 6 Eastern Partnership countries. The Newsletter highlights the vast diversity of activities carried out in the municipalities aimed at promoting energy saving initiatives among citizens and move towards clean, secure and affordable energy.
The issue highlights a brief summary and achievements of Georgian Signatories on the way to fulfilling their commitments undertaken under the new Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy. As usual, it contains an overview of the most important capacity building activities held by the CoM East experts for the CoM Signatories, Coordinators and Supporters in the Eastern Partnership countries to strengthen their potential in developing and implementing Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAP). You will also learn about a wide range of information and communication activities organised in six EaP countries to promote the new Covenant amongst citizens.
Special Edition of Newsletter #5 devoted to EUSEW 2018

This special issue is devoted to the celebration of the EU Sustainable Energy Week 2018 in Eastern Partnership countries. It highlights a large variety of activities and events organised by the local public authorities, private institutions and civil society organisations in Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The Energy Days were aimed to promote among citizens and businesses advanced energy efficiency practices, inspire innovative ideas and combine efforts to achieve the EU goals in overcoming the consequences of climate change, improving energy efficiency and energy security.
The issue highlights the CoM East developments in Belarus and important milestones of CoM implementation in other EaP countries, in particular congratulations to the winners of the second phase of grant projects within the EU-funded CoM-DeP Programme as well as the outcomes of the International Conference “Covenant of Mayors East: Joining Forces for Climate & Energy Action”. In addition, the readers will find the information on how the CoM East project team strengthens the capacity of the Signatories and promotes the CoM initiative in the region.
Republic of Armenia has always been one of the countries in focus of the European Neighbourhood Policy and of the EU Eastern Partnership Initiative. The issue highlights the developments and achievements of Armenian Signatories on the way to fulfilling the new Covenant commitments, as well as overview of the CoM East events and activities held by the project experts in Armenia and other EaP countries. You will learn about a successful project in Armenian cities of Spitak and Vayk implemented under the EU-funded Programme “Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Projects”. The Newsletter also informs on capacity building opportunities and communication activities of the CoM East project to strengthen the expertise of the Covenant Signatories, Supporters and Coordinators in the field of energy and climate policies, as well as to promote the new Covenant at the national and international level.
The CoM East team actively participated and/or co-organised several events aimed to promote advanced energy efficiency practices, inspire innovative ideas and combine efforts to achieve the EU goals in overcoming the consequences of climate change, improving energy efficiency and energy security as well sustainable urban development.
