The Energy Efficiency Fund has received 100 new applications from homeowner associations in Poltava, Ukraine; the applicants want to participate in the ‘Energodim’ programme and receive funding to make their residential buildings more energy efficient.

The high number of applications appears to be inspired by the successful implementation of the pilot project ‘First swallows’ in Novoyavorivsk and Brovary.

As of 5 June 2020, the total cost of the energy efficiency projects under the ‘Energodim’ programme is over UAH 551 million (around €18 million), while the pre-calculated amount of grants is over UAH 384 million (nearly €13 million).

The Energy Efficiency Fund (EEF) has the potential to support thousands of thermal modernisation projects that will help millions of Ukrainians experience the benefits of living in an energy-efficient home. The EU is one of the biggest contributors to the EEF. The fund aims to bring Ukraine’s energy efficiency up to European standards, by reducing the level of energy consumption and СО2 emissions in the residential sector.
