Armenia is celebrating this years’ EU Sustainable Energy Week with a series of digital events, supported by the EU-funded project ‘Covenant of Mayors East’ and local organisations. Here are some highlights:

  • 25 June, 14:00 (Yerevan time): A webinar will be held for the representatives of municipalities and municipal structures, followed by an online quiz. The webinar is titled ‘Solar heating and photovoltaic systems and energy efficiency: technologies for green recovery and growth’ and is organised in cooperation with the Armenia Renewable Resources and Energy Efficiency Fund and the United Nations Development Programme.   • Alaverdi Municipality has announced the photo competition ‘Clean energy as an alternative’. The submission deadline is 23 June. Find out more.
  • Artik Municipality has launched the drawing competition ‘Beyond the crisis: clean energy for green recovery and growth’. The submission deadline is 24 June. Find out more.
  • Gyumri Municipality joins the EU Sustainable Energy Week by promoting green development in the city. The municipality has started shooting a video titled ‘Promoting green growth in Gyumri’.
  • Sevan Municipality has announced the drawing competition ‘Beyond the crisis: clean energy for green recovery and growth’. The submission deadline is 23 June. Find out more.
  • Spitak Municipality has launched the drawing competition ‘Beyond the crisis: clean energy for green recovery and growth’ and the video contest ‘Energy saving family’. All interested candidates should submit their entries by 25 June. Find out more.
  • Tashir Municipality has announced an online quiz titled ‘Beyond the crisis: clean energy for green recovery and growth’. The registration deadline is 24 June. Find out more.
  • Vanadzor Municipality has announced a photo competition titled ‘Energy saving through my eyes’, encouraging candidates to send photos on the topic of energy efficiency, green energy and energy savings. The submission deadline is 24 June. Find out more.

This year, the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) will run from 22 June until 26 June. The event will be held virtually and the overall topic will be Beyond the crisis: clean energy for green recovery and growth. The EUSEW is the biggest event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe. It is organised by the European Commission and brings together public authorities, private companies, non-governmental organisations and consumers to promote initiatives for saving energy and moving towards renewables for clean, secure and efficient power.
