Two more high-rise apartment buildings in Lviv and Lutsk, Ukraine, have received energy modernisation grants from the Energy Efficiency Fund. The grants were provided from a trust fund, administered by the International Finance Corporation, whose contributors are the EU and the German government.

The homeowner association ‘Stryiska-75’ from Lviv has made its building more energy efficient by installing heat meters, replacing and insulating the heating system, and implementing other energy efficiency measures. As a result, the residents of ‘Stryiska-75’ will use 26% less energy, saving over UAH 100,000 (approximately €3,200) per year.

The energy modernisation works implemented by homeowner association ‘Nash-Dim 37-B’ in Lutsk, will reduce energy use by 13%, which is equal to nearly UAH 400,000 per year (approximately €13,000). The residential building was equipped with a new heating system, pipes were thermally insulated and the heating system was hydraulically balanced.

‘First Swallows’ is a pilot project of the Energy Efficiency Fund, which was launched in 2019 to test the fund's procedures. For its implementation, 15 apartment buildings from all over Ukraine were selected (as of today, only 10 buildings continue to be part of the project). The project aims to improve different working procedures: from energy audits to verifications of energy efficiency measures. Selected participants go through all stages of project implementation in full compliance with the procedures and requirements by the Energy Efficiency Fund.
