The city of Pokrovsk in eastern Ukraine has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Energy Efficiency Fund (EEF) to implement large-scale thermal modernisation projects to make its residential buildings more energy efficient. Thanks to the local support programme ‘Energodim’, the city’s homeowner associations will reduce their energy consumption and utility costs, improve their buildings’ appearance, raise their living conditions and increase the cost of their properties.

The director of the Energy Efficiency Fund in Ukraine, Yuliya Golovatyuk-Ungureanu, said:

“The ‘Energodim’ programme helps homeowner associations carry out energy efficiency measures in their apartments and reduce energy consumption, as well as save significantly on their energy bills. The fund is ready to reimburse up to 70% of the costs.”

Oleksey Trebushkin, the acting Mayor of Pokrovsk, commented: “It is very important that out city begins to cooperate with the Energy Efficiency Fund. In such an economically difficult time, we must join forces to support initiatives in the field of implementing energy-efficient measures in the housing sector.”

The Energy Efficiency Fund has the potential to support thousands of thermal modernisation projects that will help millions of Ukrainians experience the benefits of living in an energy-efficient home. The EU is one of the biggest contributors to the EEF. The fund aims to bring Ukraine’s energy efficiency up to European standards by reducing the level of energy consumption and СО2 emissions in the residential sector.
