A school in the Ukrainian town of Novovolynsk is finalising its refurbishment following works conducted as part of the EU-supported “Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Projects” initiative.
As a result, modern ventilation will be installed and light bulbs will be replaced with LED alternatives. The old windows will be replaced with double glazing and the building’s façade will be insulated. A new heating system and an individual heating unit will also be installed in the school.
All these measures provide an opportunity for the school to save half of the energy it was previously consuming and in turn save 50% on its energy and heating bills. The school will generate its own energy from sustainable sources and heat water using solar collectors installed on its roof.
