On 1 October, the EU4Energy Governance Project launched technical assistance to support Georgia in developing regulations and guidelines for regular inspections of heating and air conditioning systems, as foreseen in the draft Law on Energy Performance in Buildings of Georgia.

Currently, Georgia does not comply with the law’s requirements in regard to the efficiency of the heating and air conditioning systems, requiring inspection reports with assessment and recommendations for cost-effective improvement of the energy performance of the inspected systems to be issued.

From October 2019 to February 2020, Energy Community Secretariat experts will work on developing the necessary guidelines, regulations and a roadmap for their implementation. The regulations will ensure that inspections are carried out regularly, thus ensuring the energy efficiency of buildings and the safety of citizens with the regular maintenance of systems being carried out.
