The EU4Energy Governance Project will support Georgia in developing new standard terms and conditions for direct contracts for the sale and purchase of electricity. The launch event took place on 8 October, with the participation of the Georgian National Energy and Water Regulatory Commission, the Georgian State Electro system (TSO) and the Electricity System Commercial Operator (ESCO). The project will be delivered by the end of this year.

Participants of the meeting outlined the current status of the electricity market and electricity procurement procedures. They also discussed issues surrounding the terms and conditions to be included in the template contract developed under the technical assistance. The discussion will contribute towards the creation of a liberal electricity market in Georgia in accordance with its obligations under the Energy Community Treaty.
