On 29 October, Energy Community Secretariat experts led a workshop in Kyiv under the EU4Energy programme, addressing the key mechanisms for future management of unintentional deviations between the power systems of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova.

An unintentional deviation is the difference between the actual (unintended) energy exchange that has taken place in a given time interval and the scheduled control programme of a control area.

Representatives of the national regulatory authorities and transmission system operators from Moldova and Ukraine discussed the regulatory requirements for the settlement of the unintended exchanges, in line with current practice in EU Member States. They also analysed approaches to designing arrangements for the settlement of unintentional deviations between power systems.

Furthermore, a model of the new ENTSO-E methodology for Continental Europe on the common settlement rules for all unintended exchanges of energy was presented.

The technical assistance is part of EU4Energy support for electricity market reforms in Ukraine and Moldova.
