On 19 February, the city of Polack, Belarus, hosted the final conference of the ‘PubLiCity’ project. The event titled ‘Public lighting in the cities of Belarus: Present and future’ presented the EU project’s results and achievements, as well as a success story from Polack. Among other important topics, participants discussed the challenges of reducing energy consumption and cutting CO2 emissions.

Polack has become the first city in Belarus fully compliant with EU energy efficiency standards, giving the local residents access to better living conditions and reducing municipal costs. To achieve these impressive results, the city has received support from the EU4Energy initiative and the EU programme Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Projects.
