Georgia: Address of Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, on the occasion of the Sustainable Energy Week in Georgia

On June 22-26, Georgia will host the Sustainable Energy Week. By doing so, the country joins EUSEW which is conducted since 2006 with the aim to exchange experiences and encouragement of new ideas in energy efficiency and renewable energy to achieve the EU's climate and energy goals on greenhouse gas emissions reduction.

According to Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, the development of sustainable energy is important for Georgia's energy independence: "We greatly appreciate the support of the European Union and international donors in the implementation of energy reforms in Georgia, which aim to improve energy security through harmonization with European legislation, sustainable development with the utilization of renewable energy sources, application of energy efficiency in household and commercial sectors, liberalization of energy market, increase of sector’s investment attractiveness, etc.".
