The special issue is dedicated to the European Sustainable Energy Week 2020, which was very unusual this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Totally, 85 Energy Days were organised by the CoM Signatories in the EaP countries, mostly in a digital format. The Newsletter highlights the main figures related to the participation of Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine in the #EUSEW2020, including number and types of activities, social media engagement, regional quiz and special online events held by the CoM East project. You will find out who won second EU Sustainable Energy Award for the Eastern Partnership and learn about the flash mob “Small talk with the Mayor”, in which the leaders of the Covenant community share their experience on how they contribute to sustainable development and green energy transition in the new realia.

The Newsletter highlights the vast diversity of activities carried out in the municipalities aimed at promoting energy saving initiatives among citizens and move towards clean, secure and affordable energy.

This special issue is devoted to the celebration of the EU Sustainable Energy Week 2018 in Eastern Partnership countries. It highlights a large variety of activities and events organised by the local public authorities, private institutions and civil society organisations in Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The Energy Days were aimed to promote among citizens and businesses advanced energy efficiency practices, inspire innovative ideas and combine efforts to achieve the EU goals in overcoming the consequences of climate change, improving energy efficiency and energy security.

On 27-28th February 2020 the two-day communications workshop 'Advancing the Covenant of Mayors in the Eastern Partnership' will be held in Minsk, Republic of Belarus.

On October 16, 2019 participants of Joint Steering Committee Meeting of Sustainable Urban Demonstration Projects - Support Mechanism (CoM DeP) and Covenant of Mayors East (CoM East) visited Business Accelerator "Spark, which was established by CoM signatory Tbilisi City Hall in partnership with the Georgian Employers' Association and within the framework of the EU Initiative ‘Mayors for Economic Growth’ (M4EG).

Today, October 15, 2019, Tbilisi (Georgia) hosted the Joint Steering Committee meeting of the two projects under the Covenant of Mayors initiative – Covenants of Mayors East (CoM East) and Covenants of Mayors – Demonstration Projects (CoM-DeP).

From May 21 to 22 Energy Days were held in Mingechevir, where various events took place on the town square, in schools and other institutions, such as visiting sites, guided tours to facilities using energy-efficient technologies, sports activities (cycling, mini-football), thematic exhibitions, conferences, panel discussions, seminars, round tables, photo exhibitions, creative exhibitions (thematic), concerts, festivals, showing of thematic videos and films, drawing competitions and master classes about how to produce goods, recycle secondary raw materials, produce eco-products, eco-fashion shows, dance workshops, social events on clean water issues: cleaning of the territory, garbage collection, public events on greening cities and green areas, household waste, entertaining themed quests, quizzes.
