On 14 May, the Energy Charter Secretariat held a video conference with the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan. The online meeting covered the current situation in the energy market and the Energy Charter Process. The video call also focused on the modernisation and current arrangements related to the upcoming Energy Charter Conference. Additionally, participants discussed Azerbaijan’s achievements and progress with respect to its energy efficiency efforts.

Deputy Minister of Energy Samir Valiyev chaired the conference call, which was attended by ministry officials from the departments of International Cooperation, Energy Efficiency and Oil and Gas. The Secretariat’s team was led by the Secretary-General and officials from the Legal, Transit and Energy Efficiency units as well as the ‘EU4Energy’ programme.
