Armenia: CoM East Team Participates in the Celebration of Europe Day 2025 in Armenia

As an EU-funded initiative, the Covenant of Mayors – East (CoM East) project was honoured to join the Europe Day 2025 celebrations in Yerevan, organised by the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia on 10 May at Freedom Square.
The CoM East information booth attracted a broad audience, reflecting strong public interest in local climate and energy initiatives. A wide array of promotional and educational materials, coupled with interactive activities, contributed to sustained engagement throughout the day.
To raise awareness among younger audiences, the team organised a thematic quiz on energy and climate topics. Participants tested their knowledge on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable practices. Winners received eco- friendly prizes, including reusable water bottles with the slogan “Drink more, waste less” and shopping bags encouraging “Save the planet every time you go to the store”. These items were selected to reinforce environmentally responsible habits among participants.
Visitors were also invited to take photos using the CoM East-branded photo frame, generating dynamic visual content for social media. As part of the awareness campaign, participants whose photos received the highest engagement online will be awarded gift cards for sporting goods—further promoting healthy and sustainable lifestyles.
For younger children, the team screened five short animated videos illustrating the goals of the Covenant of Mayors and distributed Eco Kids colouring books and pencils. These resources aimed to foster early understanding of environmental responsibility through creative engagement.
Branded giveaways—including mobile phone holders and flashlight keychains—were also provided to booth visitors, supporting ongoing visibility for the initiative through practical and recognisable items.
The project team expresses its gratitude to the EU Delegation to Armenia and personally to Mr. Vassilis MARAGOS, Head of Delegation, for the opportunity to participate in the Europe Day Information Fair.
This year’s Europe Day was held under the theme “EU–Armenia: Cultural Bridge”, highlighting the enduring connections between the European Union and Armenia. The official programme began with a formal opening ceremony, followed by an extensive Information Fair featuring EU-funded programmes in Armenia and the work of EU Member States, EU institutions, and partner organizations.
Visitors had the opportunity to engage directly with embassies, discover opportunities for education, travel, and cooperation, and take part in interactive activities. At the centre of the celebration was a colorful cultural programme on stage, where EU Member States presented the diverse traditions and artistic voices of Europe through music, dance, and performance. Highlights included folk ensembles, jazz bands, choirs, and modern Armenian acts, bringing the spirit of Europe to life in Yerevan.
The day concluded with a rich cultural programme that included performances by folk ensembles, jazz musicians, vocal groups, and contemporary Armenian artists—demonstrating the vibrancy and diversity of Europe’s cultural heritage.
