Armenia: EUSEW2020 CoM East Essay Contest: “How local actions could address the global challenges of climate change?”
The essay contest “How local actions could address the global challenges of climate change?” was announced by the CoM East project in close cooperation with the Union of Communities of Armenia, the Covenant Supporter in Armenia. The contest was organized in the framework of the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW2020).
The contest was attended by 20 young employees of local administrations and municipal organizations representing the Covenant signatories in Armenia, as well as pupils and students of educational institutions of the participant communities.
On July 2 the winners of the essay contest ”How local actions could address the global challenges of climate change?”, organized by the EC “CoM East” project and Union of Communities of Armenia within the framework of the EU Sustainable Energy Days in Armenia were determined.
The names of the winners are:
- First place: Nelli Rapyan, Gavar
- Second place: Tatevik Israyelyan, Akhtala
- Third place: Alla Sargsyan, Gavar.
On August 5 the awarding ceremony of the contests was held in Gavar by Covenant of Mayors East project and Union of Communities of Armenia. On August 7 it took place in Akhtala. The winners received bicycles from the Project and Union of Communities of Armenia.
The contest of essays was held by the Covenat of Mayors East and Union of Communities of Armenia which ensured great involvement. The atmosphere among the residents of the signatories was very warm and competitive. During the contests the residents of the communities made comments, liked the publications about EU Sustainable Energy Week, they shared the posts, asked their friends to share the publications. Especially during the contests the winners of which were to be selected by FB likes, the reaches, emotions, involvements and likes of the publications were several thousands. So half a month in online platform of Armenian community pages the followers read and share and like posts about EU Sustainable Energy Week and about CoM East project. For example the reaches of the essay contest publication in Gavar, only during the contest was 15 000. The total involvement in Gavar and Akhtala within this contest was about 25 000, taking into account the sum of the reaches of the official Facebook pages of the Covenant of Mayors and Union of Communities of Armenia.
