CoM East Holds Communication Training for Signatories in Moldova

On 27–28 May 2025, the Covenant of Mayors – East held a two-day communication training for municipalities in Moldova. The event brought together both newly-joined signatories and those with passive signatory status, aiming to strengthen their communication capacities and encourage more effective community engagement.
The training began in Cricova, a town that recently joined the Covenant family. Around 25 participants – including PR specialists, investment officers, mayors and deputy mayors – took part in the first day of activities. The Mayor of Cricova, Victor Slobozianu, welcomed participants and confirmed the municipality’s commitment to energy and climate initiatives under the Covenant.
Lilia Curchi, CoM East national communication expert, delivered the main training programme. The agenda combined theoretical input with interactive exercises, group work and practical tools. Participants reflected on real-life challenges, developed campaign ideas, and shared experiences on engaging local residents. Guest speakers – Leonid Boaghi, Mayor of Sireți, and Tatiana Puica, investment specialist from Cantemir – presented successful examples of public communication on local energy and climate initiatives.
Participants called for future sessions focused on reducing CO₂ emissions, building partnerships for renewable energy projects, and accessing external funding.
On the second day, the training moved to Ialoveni. At the City Hall, participants discussed recent local projects on sustainable energy and climate change adaptation. The emphasis was placed on ensuring effective communication at every stage of project implementation, and on maintaining continuous dialogue with citizens.
The agenda included a study visit to several municipal projects. One of the highlights was the newly built Green Theater – an open-air stage for cultural events, developed as part of Ialoveni’s wider urban revitalisation programme. Participants also saw upgraded sports facilities, new sewage infrastructure, and the development of green public spaces and cycle lanes.
The visit clearly demonstrated how well-planned investments and strong communication can work hand in hand to deliver visible improvements for the community.
