On 9 May 2025, the Covenant of Mayors East (CoM East) initiative, with support from the Energy Efficiency Centre Georgia (EECG) as a Covenant Supporter (CS) in Georgia, took participation at EU Day 2025 in Tbilisi—a dynamic public event organized by the EU Delegation to Georgia. Held at Expo Georgia, one of the city’s main exhibition venues, the celebration attracted over 18,000 visitors and featured multiple thematic zones and exhibitions showcasing EU-Georgia tight cooperation.

The CoM East project team was prominently located in the pavilion, where the official opening ceremony took place and EU-funded projects were presented, ensuring strong visitor flow and visibility. The event featured a full-day program of performances, discussions, and interactive booths, all geared toward raising awareness of the EU’s initiatives and values, including green energy, youth involvement, and climate resilience.

At the environment and climate  section of the exhibition, the CoM East stand welcomed over 250 visitors who engaged in discussions, quizzes, and fun activities related to sustainable energy and climate action. Many attendees—especially youth and families—were drawn to the educational cartoons, quizzes, and prize giveaways, including over 1,100 branded items such as reusable bottles, pop-sockets, pens, keychains, and notebooks. The team also distributed informative materials, including:

  • Brochures featuring the winning stories from the literature contest “Lile,” aimed at raising climate and renewable, and energy efficiency awareness;
  • A roll-up banner featuring 4 QR codes linking to:
    • The CoM East project website;
    • EECG’s educational materials are dedicated to sustainable energy and climate issues;
    • A downloadable teaching guide for children: “Zoom – Kids on the Move.”

Institutional support was strongly reflected through cooperation with the EU Delegation in Georgia. This collaboration underlined the EU’s commitment to promoting climate initiatives in Georgia and the broader Eastern Partnership region. The CoM East team, with EECG representatives as Covenant Supporter (CS) in Georgia, was actively engaged with visitors, sharing knowledge and best practices from CoM East activities implemented in Georgian municipalities.

Participation in EU Day 2025 significantly advanced the outreach goals under CoM East’s communication and awareness-raising component. It also laid the groundwork for future regional engagements, supporting the replication of successful outreach formats across the Eastern Partnership.
