On June 26, a two-hour webinar "Network of energy managers as a prerequisite for successful implementation of Energy and Climate Policy" was held on the online Covenant of Mayors Platform. It was organised by the CoM East Project in cooperation with the Covenant Supporter – Association of Ukrainian Cities.

The CoM East team in Ukraine identified one of the priorities of this year's European Sustainable Energy Week celebration was to mark the efforts and achievements of the city's "energy crews". Because they are the right persons who, through daily organizational and practical work, help their communities to achieve the goals of the CO₂ emission reduction set by the Covenant, save energy resources and raise living standards. Thus the idea of the competition "Energy Management Star" was born.

On August 26-28 representatives of five new signatory cities of the EU initiative "Covenant of Mayors - East" gathered in Myrhorod City as part of the City2City experience exchange program.

On September 2-4, a working visit to Zhytomyr City took place within the framework of the experience exchange program - City2City, where representatives of seven cities-Signatories of the Covenant of Mayors took part: Sievierodonetsk, Slovyansk, Kramatorsk, Myrhorod, Slavutych, Kamyanets-Podilskyi and Vinnytsia.

As part of the program of study visits within the framework of "City to City" concept of the "Covenant of Mayors - East" project, representatives of the energy teams of seven Ukrainian cities-signatories of the Covenant of Mayors gathered in Zhytomyr on September 2-4, 2020.

On August 13-14, a training session on the development of Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAP) was held in Myrhorod for Signatories with commitments until 2020, who decided to extend their commitments under the Covenant of Mayors until 2030 with new targets to reduce CO₂ emissions by no less than 30% and including adaptation and energy poverty.

On August 11-12, a training session on the development of Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAP) was held in Myrhorod.

On June 23, as part of the EU Sustainable Energy Week 2020, the CoM East team hosted a regional webinar and quiz on effective clean energy solutions for recovery and growth.

Children's thematic drawing competitions are one of the integral elements of the Sustainable Energy Week celebrations in Ukrainian CoM signatories. This year, the Covenant of Mayors East project team, together with the EU Delegation to Ukraine took the initiative to select the drawings of the winners of local competitions for the "Best of the best" competition and to determine the winners at the national level. 

The special issue is dedicated to the European Sustainable Energy Week 2020, which was very unusual this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Totally, 85 Energy Days were organised by the CoM Signatories in the EaP countries, mostly in a digital format. The Newsletter highlights the main figures related to the participation of Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine in the #EUSEW2020, including number and types of activities, social media engagement, regional quiz and special online events held by the CoM East project. You will find out who won second EU Sustainable Energy Award for the Eastern Partnership and learn about the flash mob “Small talk with the Mayor”, in which the leaders of the Covenant community share their experience on how they contribute to sustainable development and green energy transition in the new realia.
