A preschool in Cantemir, the Republic of Moldova, is on its way to become more energy efficient thanks to support from the ‘EU4Energy’ initiative and the EU programme Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Projects. A total of four education buildings (two preschools, a gymnasium and a lyceum) in Cantemir are planned to go through a complete thermal modernisation, with 70% of the work already completed.
The energy efficiency measures include insulating windows with thick mineral wool, and installing droppers on the upper level of the windows. This will prevent the accumulation of dampness on the external windows and will protect the walls cracking.
The project has been running since 2018 and it will help the selected buildings reduce their CO₂ emissions by 84% and significantly cut their electricity bills.
