The Green for Growth Fund (GGF) has announced the 15 finalists of the 2020 Clim@ competition, who will pitch their ideas for sustainable energy projects on 2 June. Two of the finalists are companies from Eastern partner countries: Carmobiner from Ukraine and Forest Guard from Armenia.

Supported by the EU initiative ‘EU4Energy’, this is the second Clim@ competition and its aim is to award innovative ideas for fighting climate change and protecting the environment.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the competition will be held virtually on 2 June 2020. The finalists will pitch their ideas with pre-recorded videos to a panel of five jury members, followed by a live session. An online audience will be invited to view the proceedings.

Over 200 teams from 60 countries applied for this year’s Clim@ competition. Applicants presented a wide variety of ideas including a sustainable leather alternative made from fruit waste, organic substitutes made from tea to replace plastic parts in the automotive industry, and a digital platform that connects households and businesses in emerging markets with affiliated recyclers.
