On 22 April, ‘EU4Energy’ supported a webinar on developing a consistent methodology for calculating the energy performance of buildings in Armenia.

Participants discussed gaps, inconsistencies and missing elements in the existing methodology and building standards, and provided recommendations for improvement based on EU best practices. This included a step-by-step reform of the building codes and the implementation of the ‘nearly zero-energy buildings’ definition from the European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.  During the online session, it was also agreed that Armenia should fulfil its commitments within the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement.

The webinar was part of the EU-supported project ‘EU4Energy’. This initiative provides technical assistance to the Eastern partner countries to enhance their energy sectors with best practices from the EU. The project also aims to support the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia in developing a sound regulatory framework for the energy performance of buildings in line with EU best practices.
