The Commission has published a report on good practice examples for addressing energy sector risks during a pandemic, collated from EU experts, energy companies and network operators. The document was compiled following a videoconference of EU energy ministers on the preparedness and recovery of the energy sector, held in April 2020.

The report outlines a number of short-term risks (such as ensuring energy supply to vulnerable customers and availability of specialised energy workers) and longer term challenges like the reliability of critical supply chains and the impact of delaying or postponing maintenance.

The report provides 20 good practice examples for dealing with these risks such as establishing business continuity and contingency plans, as well as cross-border assistance, cooperation and training for operators.
