Since July 2018, the EU has been supporting the implementation of the project ‘Implementation of energy efficiency measures aiming at sustainable energy development of Ašmiany District in Belarus’. The project includes the thermal modernisation of the state educational institution ‘Nursery and Preschool No. 3 of the city of Ašmiany’. The support is part of the EU-funded programme ‘Covenant of Mayors – Demonstration Projects’.

The building will be insulated and equipped with a new heat pump system, solar collectors and a special ventilation system to reduce heat loss. Experts estimate that after the renovations, the building will use 50% less heat and electric power, and its annual CО2 emissions will go down by more than 150 tones.

The energy efficiency works are expected to be completed by 1 September 2020.
