The EU and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have supported a Ukrainian food retailer in becoming more environmentally friendly and energy efficient. Thanks to a financial package of $100 million, the Novus Group will construct the country’s first green distribution centre in Kyiv and more than 30 new stores across the country.

The grant funding for the project has been provided by Japan through the EBRD programme ‘Finance and technology transfer centre for climate change’ (FINTECC), to which the EU is a contributor.

The EBRD is the largest international financial investor in Ukraine. To date, the bank has invested almost €14.4 billion through over 470 projects.
