At the Renewable Energy Coordination Group meeting on 25 November, the Energy Community Secretariat presented a policy brief on renewables cross-border cooperation.

Cross-border auctions and joint projects are considered one of the key instruments for the Contracting Parties to cost-effectively increase the share of renewables in their energy mix by cooperating with each other and with EU Member States.

The 40 participants who attended the meeting also discussed progress in the field of renewable energy and set the Group’s priorities for the next two years.

The Group’s 2021–2022 work programme will focus on facilitating the implementation of guarantees of origin, renewables self-consumption and renewable energy communities in line with the recast Renewable Energy Directive, which is expected to be adopted by the Energy Community in 2021.
